Myspace was the place to be online a few years back. I can remember when I first created my account and customized my profile back in 2005. It was one of the first social networks that caught attention of even those who were not very internet savvy. You could find long lost friends and even keep up with your kids who were age to have an account.
Remembering Myspace
We posted updates, found music and posted pictures and shared them with our loved ones. Our Myspace profiles served as our little personal corner on the internet. At the same time, we began to print less pictures because everything was going digital and we started taking a lot of pictures with our cell phones. The quality of some of those cell phone digital images was less than acceptable to print a copy to add to Facebook. Besides, we were cropping, adding artwork and crazy photo filter edits to these digital images. Who would of thought that we would move over to another corner of the internet called Facebook, and somehow forget about or leave all of our digital pictures holding precious memories far behind.
What About Our Pictures
I never realized how many of my pictures are stuck on social media networks and in digital files never ever getting printed. Not until I tried gathering pictures for my sons funeral and had so very few. I was missing several important and recent years and so many memories. I searched and searched. Some were on old portable hard drives, some were on CD’s and DVD’s, and others were divided into many many folders on my computer.
One of my friends sent me a picture a couple of weeks after the funeral. I knew for sure the picture was on Myspace and when I talked to her she confirmed it. It sparked my interest to log into my old Myspace account and see what pictures were left behind when I made the switch to Facebook.
How To Find Your Pictures on Myspace
To get into my old Myspace account I had to remember the email and password that I had used for the account. I no longer had access to the email address so it was critical to remember all of the information. Myspace does have a request you can fill out if you have lost your information.
After logging in, you may be shocked to find that the online social networking community does not look anything like you once remembered. To find your images click on “mixes” on the left hand side. From there you will see all of your pictures and can click on them individually to download each one to your computer.
In The Future
My suggestion to you is to send these digital photos to be printed. Who knows what will happen to the internet one day or if somehow you just cant access all your digital memories when you need them.
